Cornwall Council’s Maritime Section are looking to appoint a full time Harbour Master for Newquay Harbour.  This is a busy local harbour with a varied mix of commercial fishing, passenger boat and leisure activity. The Harbour Master is responsible for the efficient and effective administration, operation and control of the Harbour in accordance with statutory requirements, Council policies and necessary commercial considerations. The successful candidate will need experience of working within the marine and/or port industry as well as experience of working with customers and members of the public. Experience of managing marine related assets would be an advantage and excellent IT skills, particularly in the use of Excel and databases is essential. This post is also responsible for the line management of a Maritime Assistant, setting tasks depending on the needs of the service.  Working as a team to ensure the harbour is run safely, efficiently and kept clean and tidy. Because of the seasonal nature of this role the post holder will be required to assist with providing 7-day cover during the summer season and will therefore be required to work every other weekend from April to the end of September on a rota basis.  A maximum of 5 working days each week but with some flexibility to meet the needs to the service. This is a great opportunity to work in a beautiful location, in an interesting and varied role.
