Please find below a list of Frequently Asked Questions we receive from people interested in membership. If you are struggling to find the answer, please get in touch with the CMN Team by calling 01326 211382 or emailing us.

To become a full Member of Cornwall Marine Network your business must operate within the marine sector in Cornwall. Our membership sign-up form has the key industry drop-down options for you to choose from. If your business does not sit within these options, you will be contacted by a member of the team to discuss your eligibility.

To become an Associate member of Cornwall Marine Network, your business can operate outside of the marine sector and outside of Cornwall, but the business must be able to offer exclusive benefits to our full members. Once you have applied, you will be contacted by a member of the team to discuss the benefits you can offer CMN’s members.

Cornwall Marine Network is the only membership organisation for marine businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. CMN was founded by marine businesses and is governed by local business owners who steer the organisation to provide support, insight and opportunities tailored to members.

When CMN delivers business improvement benefits and creates jobs, it strengthens standing with public and private funders and means that the Network is well positioned to access vital investment opportunities to allow for improvements within the sector. Feedback from Network members informs funding bids and tenders, which gives members the greatest influence on what support is available for the marine sector in Cornwall.

The funding unlocked by Cornwall Marine Network is channelled through projects and services designed to deliver:

  • Guidance on innovation and marketing

You can join Cornwall Marine Network by signing up online, requesting a call from one of our team who can answer questions and complete an application over the phone, or by meeting face to face with an advisor who can come out to visit you at a time and place of your choice.

Members and Associates are listed on our member’s directory. This is accessible to potential clients and partners and to other members who can contact one another to collaborate via our member messaging service.

Member’s news also informs the Network’s external communications via newsletters, press releases and social media, and there are opportunities to promote your business at CMN’s industry networking events.

Membership fees per annum are:

  • Loyal Members: £100 excluding Vat – Fee fixed for 3 years (meaning 21 years of no fee increases)

New Members:

  • £150 excluding VAT – please see note below regarding incentives
  • Introductory offer – £100 excluding VAT in first year for a limited time only

Directory Members:

  • £50 excluding VAT – for listing on the largest commercial marine directory in the South West

Associate Members:

  • £250 excluding VAT – Please contact us for more information on our associate programme

You can pay for your membership via debit or credit card, BACS or cheque. You can pay via card online on our website or over the phone. Payment is an annual subscription which commences from the first date of payment. At the point of renewal, we will contact you with ways to pay for your next year’s membership. We do not accept Direct Debit.

Yes, joining will be the same as if you were a new member. You can fill in the application form online, or talk to a member of our team who can complete the application and take payment over the phone. If you would like to meet someone face to face, one of our team can visit you at a time and place of your choice.

As soon as your business is up and running (either registered on companies house or you have a unique tax reference number) you can receive the benefits on offer through CMN membership.

Once you have joined Cornwall Marine Network you will receive login details which will give you access to the Member Portal and give you instant access to the membership benefits.

If you wish to cancel your membership at any point you will need to call in the first instance to discuss the cancellation. Our team can then direct you along the process. We don’t require a cancellation notice period, but we do not offer pro rata refunds on cancellations.

As a trade organisation, one of the benefits of CMN membership is access to our member directory and member messaging service. This allows you to contact other members of the organisation with news and information relevant to them.

Associate Members provide Members with exclusive offers they can’t get anywhere else, which are promoted through the Member Portal.

However, as we are diligently compliant with Data Protection, Member’s information can only be used for the purposes of which consent has been obtained, therefore we are unable to provide a list of CMN members to be used outside of our Member Portal.

Members receive digital resources to show that they are members of the Network, but as an independent organisation we do not promote any services outside of the Associate offers available to our Members via the Member Portal.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer this method, payment is an annual subscription which commences from the first date of payment. At the point of renewal, we will contact you with ways to pay for your next year’s membership.
