What is Blue Growth UK?
Blue Growth UK is a collaboration between Cornwall Marine Network and UK-wide marine business-led cluster organisations including Marine South East, who are committed to mobilising growth in the UK Blue Economy.
Blue Growth UK (BGUK) was formed in 2017 to enable a growing number of regional marine and maritime cluster organisations across the UK to jointly develop new services for their respective marine member businesses, all focussed on improving economic prosperity and ocean wealth sustainability.
The primary goal of BGUK is to provide a vehicle for shared activities, collaboration, and a point of contact for third-parties, owned equally by regional marine and maritime cluster organisations across the UK
BGUK promotes collaboration between member clusters in all sectors of the Blue Economy and their supply chains, including:
- Marine transportation and port logistics
- Marine and offshore energy facilities
- Fishing and aquaculture
- Surveillance (coastal, environmental, security)
- Defence
- Tourism, cruise & marine leisure
- Blue biotechnology
supported by a diverse infrastructure of vessel construction and repair, marine operations, fuels, robotics, sensing systems, ecological management, satellite applications, advanced manufacturing and ICT.
Through the collective capabilities of its partners, BGUK aims to achieve bottom-up engagement with businesses involved in the UK Blue Economy, bringing evidence of capabilities, mechanisms to assess the needs of thousands of UK SME’s, and scope for non-marine companies to find diversification channels into Blue Growth.
