An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent full time Maritime Assistant to assist with the running of Newquay Harbour. This is a busy harbour with a varied mix of commercial fishing, passenger boat and leisure activity.
This role, under the supervision and guidance of the Newquay Harbour Master, will be responsible for the efficient and effective administration, operation and control of the Harbour, from general maintenance, managing moorings, collection of harbour dues and a point of contact for all harbour users.
Because of the seasonal nature of this role the post holder will be required to assist with providing 7-day cover during the summer season and will therefore be required to work every other weekend from April to the end of September on a rota basis. A maximum of 5 working days each week but with some flexibility to meet the needs to the service.
The main base will be Newquay Harbour, but during the winter months you may be required to assist with work at any of the municipal ports and harbours within Cornwall.
This is an interesting and varied post, and we are looking for an enthusiastic person who can show a genuine interest in working within a marine environment. You should have some prior experience of working within maritime industry, including marine maintenance, excellent customer care skills and the ability to work on your own initiative.
