Due to a rapidly growing fleet of Duchy Motor Launches, and Custom Tenders we are looking for a Full-Time Fleet Manager who can work with the existing team to, manage the successful delivery of After Sales projects within agreed time and materials budgets, and to a quality standard that Cockwells customers are used to.
Our Fleet Management work covers everything from servicing the winter layups at our Mylor Creek Boatyard, through to significant all trades refits on our domestic or overseas fleet and on water concierge support. Please view our website for an insight into the vessels we build and refit.
We are looking for an individual from within the marine industry who has experience and a good understanding of the construction and maintenance of leisure or commercial vessels in the 8m to 24m size range, who is able to lead by example on the projects, be a motivational member of the team and is comfortable carrying out the following tasks outlined below.
Job description
The role of Fleet Manager includes the following:
- Receive worklists and communicate with clients to define critical dates and priority tasks
- Estimating the time and materials required to carry out tasks including subcontract elements where applicable
- Create project plans for all trades to carry out the job within the agreed timeframe and the capacity of the Cockwells facilities
- Carry out pre and post work sea trials
- Conduct & oversee the annual full systems checklists for each returning vessel
- Identify risks to completing the tasks within time and budget constraints
- Ensure that all Materials required are on site when needed. Identify materials required then, plan purchase in a timely way in conjunction with purchasing team
- Daily workflow management of all trades on the project including any subcontractors
- Be aware of potential Health and Safety risks for each project
- Weekly project reviews with the After Sales Care Manager for client reports and project updates
- Provide Client updates including any emergent work & change orders
- Maintain client communication outside of refit seasons to keep the fleet running, including managing the subcontracted concierge services.
Essential skills/experience
- Must have a sound knowledge of the systems, materials and methods used in manufacturing and operating leisure vessels in the 8 to 24m size range
- Must have experience in Leading and Managing people, with the confidence to give direction to a team of boat builders and drive delivery to deadlines
- Must be experienced in planning and setting up projects from start and confident to deal with multiple projects at the same time
- Must be Highly PC literate in all Office applications Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint as standard
- Be able to work under direction but also to use own initiative to find solutions
Location
- The usual place of work for this role is Mylor Creek Boatyard or South-West Shipyard, Falmouth.
Salary
A competitive and negotiable salary of £31,000-£35,000, dependent on experience.
Working hours
Monday to Friday Day-time (40 Hours per week).
