Occupational profile
This qualification is aimed at learners aged 16 and above who would like to gain the basic knowledge and skills required during their initial training to become a Boatbuilder, as well as creating the opportunity to develop transferable skills.
Learners will be introduced to the scope and opportunities offered within the wider boatbuilding and marine sector. They will develop the range of skills over a cross section of production, manufacturing, service and construction sectors which are valued by employers and therefore increase their employability skills and add to an apprenticeship learning environment. Learners will also gain the skills to work competently with at least two different types of materials, including woods, composites and metals.
Duration
The apprenticeship will be delivered over 48 months. Training hours held 1 day p/w or block release.
Level
This apprenticeship standard is at Level 3.
Mandatory Qualifications
Where an apprentice has not already achieved Level 1 English and Maths, they must do so before taking the end-point assessment.
