Working with the Cornwall Wildlife Trust

Cornwall Wildlife Trust are the leading local wildlife charity working to protect Cornwall’s wildlife and wild places on land and in our seas. The Trust came to CMN to hire an apprentice for the Your Shore Beach Ranger’s Project, to help them reach 2,500 school children and over 10,000 community members by 2021.

Adele began her apprenticeship with Cornwall Wildlife Trust in April 2018 after completing her degree in Applied Marine Zoology and worked as their Project Apprentice.

“I never thought I would be able to work in a business environment because I lacked confidence, but my achievements during my apprenticeship have shown me that I can do anything if I put my mind to it”.

Through her apprenticeship, Adele lead the development of the Beach Rangers Project’s social media marketing. As part of her apprenticeship she attended social media courses with CMN, which enhanced her skills and resulted in a marked increase in interaction and engagement via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and also the website.

“Adele has been an amazing asset to the team and has exceeded the expectations of the role she has undertaken. She has taken a massive amount of pressure off the team, both with social media and admin tasks.”

The apprenticeship has already helped Adele to progress with her career whilst also supporting Cornwall Wildlife Trust to inspire young people to protect Cornwall’s beautiful marine environment.

“The process was made very easy through Cornwall Marine Network and we would definitely recommend other employers give it a go.”
