Design and Technical Support
The award winning Cockwells design team are renowned for penning the lines of some of the most beautiful and innovative superyacht tenders on the water. We are now looking for an experienced yacht designer, who has ideally had previous experience working on high end marine projects, to join our team in Cornwall, England. You will have the day to day responsibility to design and 3D model a varied range of components for these luxury craft and will be expected to bring the highest levels of creativity to the table, along with accurate production drawings on time and within budget hours.
Key responsibilities and skills required
· Previous experience in the marine design industry
· Ability to confidently deliver accurate production drawings to the shop floor
· Knowledge of designing components in a wide range of materials including composites, timber and metal.
· 3D modelling in Rhino and Solidworks
· Experience in the design of production tooling
· Can work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
· Utilise standard drawing office templates to maintain up-to-date project records alongside contractual document control responsibilities
· Can-do mentality, flexible, responsible for workflow and deadlines
· In the current climate the ability to work from home with the correct software is essential
Ideal (but not essential) additional skills
· Ability to quickly sketch design ideas by hand
· Photoshop
· Good knowledge of materials properties and construction techniques
