Cornwall Council’s Maritime Section are looking to appoint a full time Harbour Master for Penzance Harbour. This is a busy harbour dealing with commercial and leisure operations.
The Harbour Master is responsible for the efficient and effective administration, operation and control of Penzance Harbour in accordance with statutory requirements, Council policies and necessary commercial considerations. Along with the management, instruction and development of the Penzance Harbour Staff.
The successful candidate will need detailed knowledge of working within a commercial port environment including a sound understanding of the Port Marine Safety Code and the Guide to Good Practice in Port Marine Operations. You will need experience of dealing with customers, managing marine related assets as well as leading a small team. You will need excellent IT skills, particularly in the use of Excel and databases.
