The Fugro Land Site Characterisation (LSC) business line including nearshore coastal geotechnical team, is now looking for an enthusiastic Proposal Manager to join the team based in our Wallingford, Falmouth or Consett offices.
Working as a pivotal part of the team and as part of the UK LSC commercial team, you will primarily be responsible for writing proposals for UK land and coastal based geotechnical projects, while maintaining excellent relationships with clients through responding to enquiries, active follow-ups and identifying opportunities for Fugro. You will also provide support to other Fugro business lines both in the UK and in Europe.
As part of the LSC geotechnical commercial team you will be involved in tendering for a variety of projects including renewables, power cables, a wide range of infrastructure projects as well as assisting other service lines requiring geotechnical service line input.
Your key responsibilities will include the review of client provided Invitations to Tender (ITT) and using your technical and commercial knowledge to plan surveys by engaging relevant internal stakeholders, assigning relevant resources, identifying areas of innovation, preparing schedules, preparing prices, identifying project risks, writing the tender documents and liaising with clients.
With the rapid and continued growth in a wide range of infrastructure projects across the UK, you will become an integral part of Fugro’s commercial team with the opportunity to work with some of Fugro’s key clients.

- You are someone who enjoys the detailed work of tender production.
- You come from a geotechnical or civil engineering background with a good understanding of the principles of commercial tendering
- You have a commercial, project management or service sales background in a related discipline.
Who You’ll Be Working With
You will be directly supported by the LSC Estimating Manager. Due to the varying nature of Fugro’s business, this role will provide you the opportunity to work with colleagues from across Europe. You will need to work in a team comprising legal, technical and commercial colleagues from different survey disciplines to prepare winning proposals for our clients.

Who we’re looking for
Essential
- BSc in Engineering Geology, Geotechnics or Civil Engineering or relevant equivalent commercial, management or sales experience.
- Extensive experience in a similar industry.
- Skilled problem solver with excellent verbal and written communication with a methodical common-sense approach, attention to detail and exceptional inter-personal and communication skills.
- Client orientated approach.
- Motivation, enthusiasm and drive to succeed across a multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong numeracy skills with good Microsoft Office capabilities.
- Experience of producing written deliverables.
- Excel, MS Project and O365 software
Desirable
- Experience writing or costing commercial proposals
- Ability to think outside the box and design innovative solutions or schedules
- Business development
- Negotiation experience
