We are looking for an efficient and creative Senior Designer to join our design team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of 3D models and 2D drawings for our new semi-production range of motor launches.
Designers with experience in the marine industry would be preferred for this role, especially if that experience comes from working with production motor yachts.
Job description:
After initial induction and familiarisation with the company, the successful candidate will report to the Semi-Production Design Manager and Design Director in this busy, growing organisation. New designs and production drawings will be created for our latest motor launches in the region of 45ft. The candidate will:
3D model the latest designs with a focus on how all aspects of the design will be manufactured efficiently.
Produce tooling 3D models for composite components.
Provide accurate information and 2D drawings to the production team on the shop floor.
Provide technical support by keeping technical files up to date and research additional hardware to be specified in designs.
Keep the network in order with correct version control on documents.
About you:
The successful candidate will ideally have experience in the marine industry and be confident in producing a wide range of 2D drawings and 3D models for a variety of components required in the build of a Cockwells motor launch. Using Rhino3D, you will be able to produce technical drawings to our exacting quality standards, ensuring the successful delivery of relevant and accurate information ready for use by the shop floor or by subcontractors. This could include 3D models being sent away for 3D printing or CNC cutting/milling.
Essential Requirements:
· Proficient in the use of Rhino3D – (2D and 3D)
· Experience with composite tooling design.
· Ability to set out a technical drawings.
· Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with continually changing priorities.
· Creative person with the ability to problem solve.
· Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
· Good communication of ideas (Sketch/presentation techniques).
· Happy to work with others and to an existing drawing system.
· Have marine knowledge.
· Good time management.
Other Desirable Requirements
· Degree level qualification in Yacht and Powercraft Design (or similar)
· Good knowledge of materials properties and construction techniques
· Engineering design experience
· Photoshop software skills
· 3D rendering skills

Location
The place of work is normally South-West Shipyard, Ponsharden, Falmouth. You may also be required to work at our site in Mylor Creek Boatyard, Mylor.
Salary
Negotiable dependant on experience.
Hours
Full-time (40 hours per week)
