Compass

Compass

COMPASS project is part funded by the European Social fund, CSW manage the contract on behalf of Cornwall Council who are the grant recipients. The project supports residents of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, aged 15-24 who are NEET (not in employment, education, or training). It will enable them to develop the resilience, employability skills and job market intelligence to make informed choices around access to education, employment and training based on their interests, skills, abilities, and the needs of the job market.

Cornwall Marine Network works with the Marine sector to innovate and strategically work towards a step change within the sector by working with young people. We practically influence and enable employers to create and increase the range of interactions and opportunities for young people to explore the sector and create pathways to employment and careers.

Compass is a programme to support young people to overcome the complex challenges they face; understand their individual aptitudes, passions and interests; develop skills and experiences. The project gives young people exposure to a range of sectors and we are the sector lead for Marine.

Through the project CMN delivers:

  • Taster days
  • Work Experience
  • Water based social and team building days
  • Employer engagement
  • Employer site visits
  • Progression routes into jobs and Apprenticeships

CMN has previously supported over 750 young people on the Game Changer programme with over 100 people going into employment or an Apprenticeship.
