Multiply

Devon Multiply is funded by the UK Government and is part of the Skills for Life campaign. The project will work with employers and support the numeracy and maths upskilling of Devon’s workforce.  The project will end on 31st March 2025.

Numeracy and maths courses can help your staff to build confidence and improve their ability to understand and use maths in daily life, at home, and at work.

Other delivery partners include South Devon College, Exeter College, Eat That Frog, Learn Devon, and Exeter City Community Trust.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Live in the Devon County Council administrative area.*
  • Aged 19+.
  • Do not have a GCSE Grade 4/C (Functional Skills Level 2) or above in Maths.

*Participants must be based in Devon and MUST NOT have a postcode within the districts of South Hams or Plymouth City Council.

These sessions will be 2 hours long and will be focused on the mathematics used within the workplace.  Sectors included are as follows:

  1. Making the Most of Maths

These sessions will be 2 hours long but will equip participants with mathematical skills which will assist them in day-to-day tasks outside of work, but will also help participants develop employability skills for the workplace.

Planning Skills (Time Management, Organisational Skills, and Logistics) Wednesday 25th September
Problem-Solving Thursday 26th September
Collecting, Reading and Presenting Data Tuesday 1st October
Arithmetic: Back to Basics (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division) Thursday 3rd October
  1. 1:1 Support 

There is an opportunity for 1:1 support to be provided, where the tutor could be based on the workplace’s premise and see each learner on an appointment-like structure for 1 hour apiece.  Should there be demand from a small number of participants across multiple organisations, then an accessible location can be selected as a “base of operations” which the learners can visit for their respective sessions.
