ESF Marine Renewables Research
In order to create a Marine Renewable Energy (MRE) industry that is sustainable for the future, Cornwall Marine Network identified the need to close skills’ gaps limiting Cornish businesses involvement in the MRE Sector.
To fill this gap, Cornwall Marine Network undertook research and analysis derived from consultation with Cornish businesses and research from trusted publications to produce a comprehensive report on the skills needs of the MRE. The report identified the need for skills training in manufacture/construction, installation, operations, maintenance and decommissioning, and how training courses could be designed to tailor them to MRE job roles, especially in Cornwall.
This research was used to inform future skills funding and continues to inform funding programs, and applications to those programs, to support MRE skills development in the future.
