Urgent Message to Members – Rogue Tarmac Scam in Mid-Cornwall.
We have been made aware this morning that a CMN member business based in Mid-Cornwall was approached by a rogue group of people who claimed they work for a construction company and are conducting road works in the local area.
The scammers offered the business leftover tarmac to fill potholes in the driveway for a low cost but then tarmacked (very badly) far more than just the potholes and extortionately claimed £20,000 payment with menace.
The company immediately notified police and Trading Standards have also been made aware. The rogue workmen left when the business contacted the police. Please stay vigilant and ensure you exercise caution when dealing with unsolicited offers such as free tarmac and if you do receive this offer, please report it to the Police.
