Cornwall Council’s Maritime Section are looking to appoint a full time Harbour Master for St Ives Harbour. The harbour is very much at the heart of the St Ives community and part of the busy tourist destination.
The Harbour Master is responsible for the efficient and effective administration, operation and control of the Harbour in accordance with statutory requirements, Council policies and necessary commercial considerations.
The successful candidate will need experience of working within the marine and/or port industry as well as experience of working with customers and members of the public. Experience of managing marine related assets would be an advantage and excellent IT skills, particularly in the use of Excel and databases is essential. This post is also responsible for the line management of a Maritime Assistant, setting tasks depending on the needs of the service.
Because of the seasonal nature of this role the post holder will be required to assist with providing 7-day cover during the summer season and will therefore be required to work every other weekend from April to the end of September on a rota basis. A maximum of 5 working days each week but with some flexibility to meet the needs to the service.
This is a very interesting and varied role working at an iconic Cornwall Harbour.
