Shark Bay Films

Shark Bay Films formed in 1990 and since then has built a reputation for production of award winning documentaries for worldwide television. Clients include National Geographic, Smithsonian, BBC, Discovery Channel and Canal Plus.

As documentaries can be unpredictable the team identified the need to diversify. John Boyle and Fionn Crow, Shark Bay’s owners, producers and cameramen, set up Crow Creative as a second wing to the business to open up new markets.

Through the Propel Project, CMN’s business support program, John and Fionn received grant funding and support to internationalise their website. They were also introduced to marine businesses within the network.

“We are terrible at networking. We’re both outgoing people, but not in that kind of way. Sam from CMN really simply sat us together with his contact and said ‘you do this, you do that’, which helped us make the connection. That’s what we want to do. Really basic, simple, practical collaboration. That’s what CMN does.”

Since receiving support from CMN, Crow Creative have now produced a number of videos for marine businesses in Cornwall, including Rustler Yachts, Princess Yachts and Bowman Yacht Charter.
