Job Description Fugro is recruiting a Production Engineer to join our busy workshop in Falmouth on an internship. Please note this position is ideally for students undertaking a 12 month industrial placement between years of undergraduate study.   You will work closely with a wide range of teams which includes design, procurement, workshops, subcontract manufacturers and suppliers, working closely with each department to ensure production activities are completed in a timely manner and to a high standard. This opportunity will provide real-world experience within a busy manufacturing environment and is ideally suited to a student looking for hands-on experience or in exceptional case a recent graduate may be considered. Our Falmouth Hub design, manufacture and produce a range of equipment used by Fugro internationally, this can range from small remedial works to ladders and walkways, to complete new 3m diameter, 250-tonne subsea drills.   This job is for you if: You are eager to learn and are looking for an opportunity to put your theoretical knowledge into practice You have a keen interest in manufacturing and the processes around engineering You enjoy working as part of a team Who you’ll be working with:   On a daily basis, you will engage with a variety of people including the Production Manager, Workshop Manager, Workshop Supervisors, Design Engineers, Project Managers, and Procurement. You will also liaise with our suppliers and subcontractors.   Here’s what a typical day would be like: Reading and interpreting technical drawings, advising on amendments if necessary Raising Purchase Requests, Workshop Travellers, and Work Packs, and recording all details. Electronically filing correct material documentation, working with workshop departments to compile QC packs for internal and external clients Assisting the Production Manager in establishing a robust supplier network Promoting a positive health and safety culture Liaise with internal and external clients on technical and commercial issues Establish priorities in workflow liaising with our workshop and technical staff to ensure that they have a clear and concise understanding of the jobs Assist Production and Workshop Manager where required. Who we’re looking for: Essential GCSE in Maths and English or Equivalent A-levels in Maths and Engineering/Science, or an Engineering Diploma, or equivalent Experience in a manufacturing environment An understanding of engineering processes Clear communication skills Good team player Desirable Studying Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering degree.
