Cockwells Modern & Classic Boatbuilding Ltd are renowned for working at the cutting edge of technology and innovation, fusing the artisan skills of the shipwright with modern materials and methods and are looking for an experienced Systems Design Engineer to join their design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of systems on our new Hardy Motor Yachts range as well as our bespoke superyacht tender projects. This will include, but not be limited to, the design of fresh water, black water, bilge pump systems as well as generator, seakeeper and engine room installations. Designers with experience in the industry would be preferred for this role. Job description After initial induction and familiarisation with the company, the successful candidate will report to the Design Director in this busy, growing organisation. New system schematics will be created for a range of Hardy Motor Yachts and superyacht tenders. The candidate will: Provide accurate information and 2D system drawings to the production team for new-build superyacht tenders and Hardy Motor Yachts 3D model the system design Provide technical support to the shop floor team which may include fault finding Keep the network in order with correct version control on documents. About You: The successful candidate will have experience in the industry and be confident in producing a wide range of 2D drawings and 3D models for a variety of components required in the boat build. Using Rhino3D, you will be able to produce technical drawings to our exacting quality standards, ensuring the successful delivery of relevant and accurate information ready for use by the shop floor or by subcontractors. Essential Requirements: · Proficient in the use of Rhino3D · Ability to set out a technical system drawing · Knowledge of fresh water, black water, bilge pump systems as well as understanding of generator, seakeeper, engine room installations. · Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with continually changing priorities · Creative person with the ability to problem solve and fault find · Ability to communicate clearly and professionally · Happy to work with others and to an existing drawing system · Have marine knowledge · Good time management Other Desirable Requirements · Hands on experience as an engineer · Good knowledge of materials properties and how boat systems work · Experience with Empirbus programming Cockwells enjoy an enviable reputation as an award-winning company at the forefront of designing and building the highest quality boats, motor launches and superyacht tenders and regularly feature in international, national and local media.
