Via Ferrata Cornwall, which some may know for its Business Challenge Event, is offering team away days at its stunning site near Falmouth in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Whether you want to reward your team for another year of hard work, or do something a bit different for your Christmas celebration, there’s something for everyone. As a finalist in the Small Visitor Attraction of the Year category in the Cornwall Tourism Awards, you’ll be in excellent hands!
A range of exciting activities
For the adventuresome, there’s the Via Ferrata activity, a one-of-a-kind high wire adventure that sees you journeying through historic granite quarries by scaling the cliff faces on their iron stairway, balancing across the 70m long high wire bridge and soaring through the air on their zip wire. Taking on the high challenges in a completely different (yet safe!) environment offers fantastic opportunities for your team to help and encourage each other and have an enormous amount of fun! The setting is second to none, with views overlooking the Lizard Peninsular and Falmouth Bay.
“We were brilliantly looked after by our two instructors, Will and Harry, immediately named the two princes! The course is a clever balance between stimulus and fun. A great outing whether you are a mountain goat or a flat-lander. The views are amazing with cake and coffee to match.” – Simon Tregoning, Classic Cottages
If you prefer something not quite as extreme, the Adventure Quarry is perfect for some inclusive adventure team-building games. One of the most popular activities involves an obstacle course across the water (with the option of blindfolds to maximise those communication skills!), and there are plenty of other problem solving challenges designed to get your colleagues learning from and depending on each other. There’s also climbing/abseiling and archery target games for some healthy competition!
What happens in bad weather?
The activities can still go ahead in the rain and are just as fun, but the site is also home to a very spacious adventure barn, with a fantastic climbing wall and other indoor teambuilding activities. In addition, if the weather forecast takes a turn for the worst after booking an outdoor option, you’ll be able to move indoors.
Activities tailored to your needs
Depending on your goals, you may have certain outcomes that you’re looking to gain from the activities. Whether that’s breaking down barriers, building trust, communication or problem solving skills, or anything else, it’s something that the team will help with!
“For us, doing the Via Ferrata has been about experimenting with the kinds of emotions that take place in the workplace, in a totally different setting. This is a chance to have the sort of self-reflection that you can’t get in the work environment. It’s a great way of using the outdoors for leadership training and bringing learning outside in a different context. The team at Via Ferrata Cornwall have been great at bringing that to life and the instructors have fully embraced introducing an element of fear into our activity to develop our team.” – James Hampton & Richard Parkes, St Austell Brewery
Combine with food and drink
The Cornish Barista’s Quarryside Café is known for its delicious cakes and lunches made with local ingredients. Offering cozy seating by the toasty log burner and beautiful views overlooking the quarry, this is the perfect place to round off all the excitement and relax.
Nature adventure trails
Winding through diverse habitat zones, the nature trails are a brilliant way to unwind and connect with nature. After a day at Via Ferrata Cornwall you’re sure to leave feeling energised with boosted wellbeing!
Reserve a room to relax in afterwards
There’s also the option to have a private room to yourselves to relax in or carry out any self-led team-building at no extra cost.
Pricing and CSR
The Via Ferrata is £42.50 per person, climbing is £28 per person and archery is £12 per person. There’s also a 10% discount for bookings with a minimum of 8 people! All of the profits from Via Ferrata Cornwall’s activities and 10% of Café sales go to the charity BF Adventure which provides critical support to Cornwall’s most vulnerable children, so this is a brilliant way to demonstrate your CSR values.
How to book
Enquiries can be made by emailing the team – simply get in touch with your group size and preferred activity and date. Reserving a table or lunches will need to be done separately with The Cornish Barista by emailing them.
“We visited Via Ferrata twice in a fortnight because our team so enjoyed the experience. The location is amazing and we were so well looked after by the friendly instructors. Just the right level of thrill and adrenaline rushes to make it suitable for all. I heartedly recommend Via Ferrata for team building days. We will be back!” – Pete Fraser, Harbour Lights and Frasers Fish and Chips
