Cornwall Marine Network, part of Maritime UK South West, welcomed Petra Wilkinson CBE, Director of Maritime and eleven directors and officials from the Senior Maritime Team at the Department for Transport (DfT) on Friday. Petra’s team were very interested to understand the world class leading maritime skills, support organisations, facilities, innovations and businesses the region has to offer.
As a Maritime Cluster representing over 350 marine businesses, Paul Wickes, CEO of Cornwall Marine Network showcased the nationally recognised business support model at CMN, including employer-led skills and training, green skills and sustainability, business support for SME’s using both radical and incremental innovation, and the development and sustainability of Regional Clusters alongside Maritime UK and the exciting opportunities in the emerging Floating Offshore Wind sector among the increasing green and blue agenda.
We very much look forward to working with the Maritime Team at DfT to develop new support and services to our loyal Members and the wider maritime sector and would like to thank the DfT team for visiting Cornwall.
