Visit Blyth Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult with Marine I



To introduce up to 5 SMEs from Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to the scale and range of test facilities available through ORE Catapult (Blyth). Businesses will be accompanied by ORE Catapult’s Simon Cheeseman and Julie Taylor, senior representatives from Marine-i partners and the Department for International Trade Sector Specialist Richard Hall. Blyth site tour groups are limited to 10 people for Health & Safety reasons.

The visit will provide an opportunity for networking with Marine-i during the journey, an opportunity to see first-hand the wind and tidal turbine drivetrain test rigs, blade test facility, High Voltage laboratory, materials laboratory and Marine Energy Test Centre, meet with research and test rig staff to gain a better appreciation of the innovation challenges facing the offshore renewables sector and inspire ideas for product and services development.

The businesses will be offered, free of charge:

  • Return transport from Exeter to Blyth
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner whilst in Blyth
  • Hotel Accommodation in Blyth for one night

Expenses, such as travel to and from Exeter transportation hubs, car parking, incidentals including alcohol at the hotel will be covered by the individual businesses. This will be a no-expenses paid package.

Businesses will need to be located in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and complete a Marine-i eligibility form.
