Maritime Assistant (St Ives)
Maritime Assistant (St Ives)
Cornwall Council’s Maritime Section are looking to appoint a full time Maritime Assistant for St Ives Harbour.  This is a busy harbour with a varied mix of commercial fishing, passenger boat and leisure activity.  The harbour is very much at the heart of the St Ives community and part of the busy tourist destination. This role, under the supervision and guidance of the St Ives Harbour Master, will be responsible for the efficient and effective administration, operation and control of St Ives Harbour, from general maintenance, managing moorings and a point of contact for all harbour users.  This is an interesting and varied post and we are looking for an enthusiastic person who can show a genuine interest in working within a marine environment. You should have some prior experience of working within maritime industry, including marine maintenance, excellent customer care skills and the ability to work on your own initiative. Because of the seasonal nature of this role the post holder will be required to assist with providing 7-day cover during the summer season and will therefore be required to work every other weekend from April to the end of September on a rota basis.  A maximum of 5 working days each week but with some flexibility to meet the needs to the service.
