Cornwall Marine Network (CMN) are thrilled to announce that Coodes Solicitors will be supporting Cornwall Marine Academy’s valuable work within their marine careers and outreach programmes.

Over the last 15 years, Cornwall Marine Academy (CIC) has delivered vocational / employability training, work experience and school outreach programmes to over 38,000 young people aged 9 to 24 to support their employability and progression onto further education, an apprenticeship or a job.
Coodes Solicitors, one of the South West’s longest established and leading law firms in Cornwall and Devon, has built a well-deserved reputation for providing individuals and businesses with exceptional legal services and is recognised as a leading law firm in both the Legal 500 and UK Chambers and Partners guides. Rooted in the communities and economy of Cornwall and Devon, Coodes support a range of charities and organisations, so this new collaboration with Cornwall Marine Academy is a natural fit.
In November, Coodes supported an education day at the Cornwall Marine Academy, where they welcomed over 40 schoolchildren for a day of hands-on activities to build, interact with and explore the marine sector. The session was held at the National Maritime Museum which served as an amazing backdrop to enrich understanding of the sea and Cornwall.
Dave Wickes, Cornwall Marine Academy CIC Director, said: “I am proud of what the Academy team delivers and achieves every day around the southwest but our links with businesses is crucial to offering effective, practical and forward thinking activities across our programmes to inspire the next generation into marine careers.
“To have a well-known and respected brand such as Coodes to support these activities ensures that alongside our other partners we can engage more schools, organisations and youngsters about the world class leading careers the marine sector can offer and the pathways that can take them there.
“We look forward to developing and growing this relationship with Coodes as we head into 2025 with an exciting calendar of events, sessions and activities to take the Cornwall Marine Academy message out even further.”
Kirsty Davey, Head of Corporate and Commercial at Coodes Solicitors, commented: “We are delighted to be supporting Cornwall Marine Academy’s training programme, to inspire young people across the South West to explore the wealth of opportunities in the marine sector. As a firm, we are rooted in the Cornish community and are committed to supporting initiatives that nurture talent and strengthen our local communities.
“We see firsthand the importance of the marine sector to the Cornish identity and economy, and the vital training the Academy delivers to raise awareness of marine based career opportunities. We look forward to working with the Academy in the future.”
