Last week, members came together in Penzance for the first of a series of Cornwall Marine Network discovery events.
Members were treated to tour of the Penzance Dry Dock, where we heard from Jamie Murphy and the team on their vision and work on a regional, national and international level. The PZ Dry Dock team are creating and delivering on a vision to ensure the dry dock has both been revitalised and is fit for the future opportunities that are now presenting themselves and with that comes employment for the local area and a place in the community hearts again as it was for many years.
We then boarded the Scillonian during its winter maintenance for a fascinating tour and update from Thomas Weise and the amazing team at the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group. We all have a place in our hearts for the Scillonian with Penzance and Mounts Bay being rightly proud of its links with the Islands and the gateway it provides, which alongside the IOS Steamship Company, continues to provide extensive services to the Islands as it has done for many years.
It was then onto the Penzance Sailing Club for member networking and an update from Paul Wickes MBE and the CMN team.
Thank you to all who attended and special thank you to Jamie and the Penzance Dry Dock team, to Thomas Weise and all on the Scillonian, and finally to Paul at the Penzance Sailing Club for your hospitality.
This is the first of a series of network events for all our members, and for the wider marine sector, to discover how Cornwall Marine Network can support you, your business and your team.
