New partnerships created with Cornwall Marine Network working with Learn Scilly,

The New Year has already seen new partnerships created with Cornwall Marine Network working with Learn Scilly, to bring training opportunities to businesses on the Isles of Scilly.

Lisa Hutchings, Skills Broker at Cornwall Marine Network says “Through the Developing Skills for Business Programme we co-developed bespoke customer service and marketing your business workshops, which were delivered on St Mary’s from the 3rd – 5th February”

“It was great to work with the team at Learn Scilly, who supported CMN with joint marketing and facilitation. Over the three days, we supported 14 businesses and 30 individuals, covering a variety of key topics from; customer service versus customer experience, to discovering core values, and content marketing”

“Businesses came from St Mary’s, St Martin’s, St Agnes and Bryher.  It was great to see the diversity, and understand the dynamics of the Islands and how businesses work together.  Those who attended gained valuable essential skills, which will help them to achieve excellent customer service, as well as explore new ways of marketing their business.”

Going forward, I hope that the support will encourage other businesses to access support and training from CMN”.

John Peacock -Owner of St Agnes boating  who attended the Marketing Session commented

“It was great attending the training and I came away enthused to update my marketing plans”.

Trish, Skills Hub Connector at Learn Scilly: “Thanks to the Skills Hub Access to Training Fund (funded by the European Social Fund), we were able to cover the tutor’s travel to and from the mainland, as well as inter island travel for learners attending from off islands.

It was great to be able to support so many of my Skills hub customers (17 staff from 7 businesses) on the courses, making it extremely cost effective delivery and saving businesses from having to travel to the mainland. Customer service and marketing are key skills that every business should have so we were delighted when CMN could deliver these vital skills on the islands.”

Helena, Learning and Development Officer at Learn Scilly: “The flexibility of the programme, with support from the Skills Hub Access to Training Fund, meant that CMN were able to deliver the training on the Island. Without this, businesses would not have been able to up skill their employees, learning vital skills to support their employers and businesses with customer service and marketing.”
