Sea-Changers, a UK-based charity dedicated to protecting marine environments, is rolling out its annual grant programme aimed at empowering organisations to make a tangible impact on the country’s coastal and marine ecosystems. The programme is open to UK-based charities, schools, and other entities committed to marine conservation efforts.
The Sea-Changers Grant Programme offers two types of funding: Main Grants and Small Grants. The Main Grants provide financial support ranging from £500 to £2,500, with two application rounds per year. Deadlines for these applications are set for 31st March and 30th September, giving organisations multiple opportunities to secure funding. In addition, Small Grants of up to £500 are available, with the flexibility to apply at any time for a swift decision.
Throughout the charity’s 12-year existence, Sea-Changers has successfully funded 424 projects, and allocated £552,000 in grant funding to businesses.
Sea-Changers is particularly interested in supporting grassroots projects that galvanise community action and foster widespread participation in marine conservation activities. Projects that tackle the root causes of marine conservation threats, work to prevent or reduce negative impacts on UK coastal and marine environments, or contribute to the body of knowledge on these issues are especially encouraged to apply.
The charity has set clear eligibility and evaluation criteria to ensure that funded projects deliver meaningful and measurable impacts. These criteria include the project’s potential to positively affect marine environments, its value for money, and the extent to which it engages communities and inspires long-term benefits. Sea-Changers also encourages innovative and creative approaches to solving marine conservation challenges.
Organisations interested in applying are urged to carefully review the programme’s eligibility requirements and evaluation criteria to ensure their projects align with Sea-Changers’ objectives. This new grant programme represents a significant opportunity for UK-based groups to secure vital funding and contribute to the preservation of the UK’s marine life and habitats.
