CMN Signs the Women in Maritime Pledge
Cornwall Marine Network has signed the Women in Maritime Pledge and is encouraging network members and the wider Cornish marine community to do the same.

Cornwall Marine Network has signed the Women in Maritime Pledge. The headline statement for intent states “we are committed to building an employment culture that actively supports and celebrates gender diversity, at all levels, throughout our organisation, and our industry”, and Cornwall Marine Network has aligned with this statement.

As a signatory Cornwall Marine Network has made clear our support for creating positive change within the business, and collectively, across the UK maritime sector.

Of the estimated 1.25 million seafarers in the world, fewer than 2% of them are thought to be women. This statistic reflects how, historically, maritime has been viewed as a male-dominated industry.

If you wish to be recorded as a signatory to the pledge, please use the link here:

Organisations that sign the pledge will be encouraged to take practical steps and set themselves measurable and ambitious goals towards meeting this pledge. They will be supported in this through the Women in Maritime Charter, launched later this year, alongside toolkits to help them achieve their goals, recognition of their progress, and a government supported annual review.
